Goals:  To look at techniques that authors use when writing an informational article, as well as gather information for our trials.

Agenda:

1) Collect AOW #7

2)  Mrs. Karney will show you how to chart the text.  We will look at the paragraphs that we chunked together to see what the author is SAYING and DOING.  

3)  Groups will complete poster on the article we read yesterday about teens,friends, and bad decisions.

Verbs to Explain Author's Choices

VOCABULARY TO KNOW

cocky-arrogant; pertly self-assertive; conceited:

divert-to turn aside or from a path or course; deflect.

contemptuous-showing or expressing contempt or disdain; scornful; disrespectful.

stifle-to quell, crush, or end by force:
to stifle a revolt; to stifle free expression.
