Good Morning!

Goals: Review capitalization rules.  Begin preparing for a narrative.  To practice incorporating figurative language and imagery into our narratives.

Agenda:

1) Capitalization Review

2) Brainstorm each of the following:

a change

a first attempt at something

a time you were unprepared

a family event

3) Begin writing about your chosen event

Thanks for a great report from the guest teacher yesterday!  I am not surprised!

Goals:  To publish models of good writing for our classmates to enjoy.  To analyze an author's use of imagery and emulate her in our own writing.

Agenda:

1)  Finish your mentor sentences on your slide.  Share them with me.

2)  Read "Fish Cheeks" by Amy Tan .  Identify her use of the five senses and analyze the effectiveness and impact.

3) Write our own childhood memory using imagery.

Tuesday, October 4th

Unfortunately, I have to be out for a district meeting today.  I know you will be awesome for our guest teacher, and I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow

1)  Finish text-dependent questions for "Rikki Tikki" and SHARE with me. 

2)   Mentor Sentences-Analyze the use of punctuation in each sentence.  Try to explain the rules. Then, your group will create a poster modeling the same type of sentence.
